Founders Evan Slow and Bob Sommerville formed Angstrom Scientific in 2004, to focus on providing characterization solutions to nanotechnology researchers. As a distributor and manufacturer’s representative serving the Americas, Angstrom Scientific utilizes Evan and Bob’s combined 50+ years of experience in scientific equipment applications to help customers acquire the instrumentation that is best suited to their needs.
As a manufacturers’ representative, Angstrom Scientific is well positioned to provide not only sales support, but also product marketing support, and customer services including warranty program management, and applications and operator training. We are also set-up to supply spare parts and consumables for the products that we represent.
Evan Slow brings a background that includes materials science and electron microscopy. He has his B.S. from State University of New York (SUNY) and his M.S. from Bowling Green State University. Prior to partnering with Bob to start Angstrom Scientific, Evan held positions as applications manager and product manager with EDAX, strategic account manager with FEI Company, and national account manager with LEO Electron Microscopy Inc. (now Zeiss SMT). As the chief operating officer for Angstrom Scientific, Evan is focused on all aspects of administration and service management, as well as being the primary sales contact for the New York and New Jersey area.
Bob brings his background in both science and business to Angstrom Scientific. Bob has a B.Sc. from the University of Glasgow and his MBA from Schulich School of Management, York University. He has extensive experience in sales and marketing, as Vice President and General Manager with Philips Analytical, and then as Director of Sales and General Manager with LEO Electron Microscopy Inc. (now Zeiss SMT). At Angstrom Scientific, Bob as CEO and General Sales Manager focuses on sales management and business development, in addition to being the sales contact covering most of North America.
Angstrom Scientific’s sales support team is well positioned to provide quick and knowledgeable answers to customers.
Mark Theskan is our sales support in the midwest, and is based in Cincinnati OH. Mark has had extensive sales experience, most recently with Hunter Labs, and has come up to speed quickly on all of the products from our various principals.
In the Mid Atlantic, Liz Carter rounds out the Sales Team. Liz is based in the Washington DC area. She graduated with a BS in Materials Science and Engineering, then started in sales and marketing in the X-Ray field with Bede. Following that, Liz ran the Cryo division of Oxford and subsequently ran her own distribution company supporting Stoe X-Ray systems, among others. Liz’s overall experience in sales marketing and management are a welcome addition to the team.
Technical support is handled by our newest team member, Xavier Odihirin, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Science. Xavier has had experience working for some time, with one of our customers, who purchased multiple Hitachi TM 3030’s and kept them functional in adverse conditions. He is now fully factory trained on both the Hitachi TM series as well as having completed factory training in the UK on our Deben product line. We are confident that Xavier will bring his experience and capabilities to support all of Angstrom’s product lines.
All of our bookkeeping responsibilities are handled by Christine Lembo, who joined us in 2014 and makes sure that our finances are in order. Rounding out the office is our Office Manager, Amy Mondelli, who has the responsibility of keeping our team sane and organized since she started in 2012 (a daunting task!).
